Are you thinking about planning some outdoor activities for the summer months this year? Why not try The Riverwalk in Jupiter Florida? Still partially in construction, it will measure 2.5 miles when fully completed and allows visitors to experience great views along the Intracoastal Waterway shoreline on the south of the inlet. Since 2011 it has also connected with the Eastcoast Greenway - a 3,000 mile trail between Key West and Maine.
Particular points of interest include cycle and pedestrian tracks along Ocean Way which connect the stunning Atlantic beaches to the south part of the Riverwalk. Here, families will also enjoy the Natural Area of Jupiter Ridge which includes educational kiosks about local habitats and wildlife. With 267 acres to explore, it provides a great opportunity to get fresh air and enjoy the scenery. Mangrove Bay takes you through a tropical community full of mangroves and wildlife, and Lagoon Bridge is another route for pedestrians and cyclists which permits tranquil views of the lagoon, manatees and sealife.
If you're looking for something less active, there are plenty of amenities at the Riverwalk Entertainment District (Events plaza) which is a waterside shopping, dining and entertainment area with a marina and hotel also planned. Yearly events include Jazz & Art on the Riverwalk and the Holiday Boat Parade Celebration. The Yacht Club also provides dining and shopping facilities after a tiring walk.
Free parking for the public is available at the Yacht Club, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum, Plaza Down Under and the Natural Area, so whichever part you would like to explore, there is parking available nearby. You can also travel by boat, with public docks located at the Yacht Club Marina Basin. Further public docks and ramps are available in Burt Reynolds Park. This is a perfect location which offers something for everyone whether you enjoy getting active in the open air, or shopping and entertainment against a scenic backdrop.
