North Shore Bandshell

In the middle of the North Beach in Miami, Florida, Miami-Dade County, sits the North Shore Park Bandshell. It is conveniently located off Collins Avenue, where you could get regular free entries to enjoy local performances by jazz groups and symphony orchestras.  You can also take advantage of free parking in the bay across 72nd street after 6 pm.

This wonderful outdoor music venue was renovated in September 2011 and re-opened to the public. Now, there is a complete amphitheater with a stage, proper lighting, and acoustic padding.

Make the most of the free outdoor movie tickets designated for locals every Friday evening. As most of the movies are PG or G rated, let your children enjoy them and get free popcorn. Many restaurants are open 24/7 so you could grab a bite or a drink. If you are lucky, you may just witness the annual Heineken TransAtlantic Festival, a musical extravaganza that brings leading international acts.

Family-friendly activities

Let your family enjoy the treats by local establishments. Usually, alcohol is prohibited during these extravaganzas, and so are glass containers. Events’ organizers usually have free shuttles to ferry locals and tourists to and from the festivals. Just check the pickup and drop off points carefully.

From 73rd and Collins Avenue, you can witness the sun sparkle over the waterfront especially after sunset. Watch the stars and breathe clean beach air. This is arguably the best way to have a great time without spending much money.  Let your kids make friends and play as you enjoy the sea breeze. You could bring food and snacks from outside and a blanket, as the breeze is quite chilly at night.

On the fourth Wednesday of each month, the North Shore Band shell in Miami Beach brings in food trucks from which you and your children can enjoy delicacies. When you are tired of dancing to the live bands you can always take a stroll along the beach.

Rental information for events as well as a schedule of their events can be found on the Miami Beach Parks & Recreation website.
