Delray Municipal Beach

Body

Delray Municipal Beach is located at the far eastern side of Atlantic Avenue where it intersects with A1A.  Aside from being one of the "Top Public Beaches" in the SE United States, according to Travel Holiday magazine, this beach is home to some of the area's top-rated dining opportunities.   Delray Municipal Beach is popular for it's temperate waters, great sand quality, and dafe waves. The City of Delray Beach contracts with a beach cleaning service and a cabana rental company to insure year round enjoyment of the Municipal Beach for all.  The Municipal Beach has four parks with parking areas for automobiles in addition to parallel parking along Ocean Blvd:  Anchor Park, Sandoway House, Atlantic Dunes Park and Sarah Gleason Park.  An annual beach parking permit is available and allows for year round parking along A1A.  There are only 2 public restrooms accessible by beach-goers.  One restroom is on Atlantic near A1A behind the BurgerFi restaurant.  The other restroom is located within Anchor Park toward the southern end of the beach.  The playground equipment is across A1A from the beach and is also located at Anchor Park.

Accessibility Information:

At the North end of the Beach, at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and A-1-A, the City maintains an elevated covered pavilion as well as a wooden walkway and observation platform that extends out onto the beach. The observation platform provides a view of both the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Handicap parking is located on A-1-A next to these facilities and across Atlantic Avenue, a newly constructed accessible restroom facility was opened atSarah Gleason Park.

Two Surf Chairs are available for the physically challenged to enjoy the beach. The chairs allow for mobility on the sand and are available from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm at the following lifeguard towers: South 1, located at A1A and Atlantic Avenue andAtlantic Dunes Park, located on A1A just one block north of Linton Blvd.  The use of the surf chair is free of charge but there is a two (2) hour time limitation.  Use of the chair is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and be accompanied by a companion who is able to assist the user. The lifeguards on duty can assist in getting the chair to you, but you must have someone in your party assist in getting in and out of the chair and using the chair on the sand.
