Alice Wainwright Park

Body

If you are looking for a wonderful place to take the whole family for an afternoon of fun and relaxation, Alice Wainwright Park in Miami is the place to be. All parks have their unique qualities, but not every park can provide breathtaking views of downtown Miami and Key Biscayne. That, and its rare locale in the middle of a host of high rises, is what makes this park a hidden Miami gem. It is a bay front oasis that provides picnic shelters and benches that face the water. A basketball court is available for anyone who wants to shoot hoops.

The views in the park alone deserve a five-star rating, and the playground has baby and regular swings and two sets of slides or climbing centers. Since the park is located in a good residential neighborhood, it is a safe place to take your kids, and police officers are always on patrol. This is a clean and quiet park that is ideal for children and families. It provides cookout spaces and bathrooms to freshen up. There are water fountains and a parking space, although it is not sufficient to serve the many number of people who frequent the place.

The beauty of this park is that it offers plenty of sunshine and there are many places to take shelter from the sweltering heat. If you’re an avid cyclist, the park is located on the South Miami to Key Biscayne biking route. The park has two levels, and on the upper level, you’ll find the basketball court and playground, which has plenty of grass. The lower level is next to the ocean and there are exercise machines. A smaller playground is also on the lower level. Even though parking is often hard to find, it is free. If you decide to visit this park, be sure to stay until evening time, when you can enjoy the stunning sunset.
