February weekends in South Florida are just plain glorious with the cool air and shining sun.  Perfect weather for an outdoor event like the Florida Renaissance Festival at Quiet Waters park in Deerfield.  This event runs for 6 weekends from February into mid-March.

High fashion hit the streets in the Village By the Sea on Saturday and South Florida Finds got a chance to see the Delray Swim Fashion show kick off event.  Atlantic Avenue in downtown Delray Beach was packed for this standing room only event!  The vibe was hip and fun with spectators and models of all ages strutting their stuff.  The location of the DeBilzan Square (our nickname for it)  was great for this show with it’s central locale, chic art and scrumptious food choices nearby.  

It's probably no secret that when the full summer heat is on in South Florida, the natives go indoors. Trips to the library, discount summer movies, the mall, bookstore etc become the routine. Going out into the sun requires a lot more work: dragging along extra fluids, sunblock, hats, sunglasses, etc.  A backyard pool is ideal for staying cool and keeping the kids occupied but they are expensive.

This morning we got out the door by 7am and trotted off to one of our favorite beach spots, Gulfstream Park in the Boynton Beach area. This park is so popular during the season that the usual "get there early" advice still doesn't really help ya much. People spend forever trolling the parking lot just to be able to enjoy the facilities. This morning all the front spaces were available and there was only a handful of folks there. The boys made a bee line for the shore area. We enjoyed a low key morning digging in the sand, collecting "treasures" and rolling in the surf.
