Scott's Place Playground was named after a six year old boy named Scott Williamson who sadly passed away due to cerebral palsy. The construction of this park was funded by a 250,000 dollar donation made by Del and Barbara Williamson after they lost their six year old son, Scott. Del and Barbara Williamson donated the money for this park with the dream that disabled children, like their son, would be able to come and enjoy the playground as any other child would. That is what makes this playground a great place for families to go with their children, especially if they are disabled.

Scott's playground features a huge play set with ramps that is completely wheel chair accessible. This playground is considered barrier free, meaning it is handicap accessible. There is a swing set, a jungle gym and slides as well.  The playground incorporates a full acre of accessible playground equipment including slides, sensory items, shade, swings and many other attractions.  However, there is one other feature about this play ground that sets it apart from the rest. There is a walkway paved in bricks that leads to a reading area equipped with a chest full of different types of books for children. Benches are all over the park so you can relax and watch your child explore and play. There is a pavilion as well as a picnic area that is located outside of the playground, which can be rented for special occasions.

Family Fun For All:

Whether you are a local resident or are new to the area, this is a great playground for families with children. If your child is disabled this park is great place to visit so they can have fun experiences just like any child would. Even if your child is not disabled, they will also enjoy all this playground has to offer. It will give children the unique opportunity to learn that disabled children love to play just like any other kid does, no matter what their ability. This park is also great for handicap parents to bring their children. The handicap features in this playground make it easy to be involved in your child's experience.
