This park is the park for the sports enthusiasts and the youth of the city. The park really works hard to reach out to the community with its various sports programs like a Pop Warner Youth League and the Boys and Girls Club of Miami.

Big Corkscrew Island Park is set to open its doors in 2020 with its estimated construction cost of 160 million USD. This ambitious project will house sports centers, a lake, a multipurpose field, and a playground. The project is divided into two phases. The park and nature center were brought about through the efforts of local citizens wishing to preserve their "Secret Woods" from development.
