Waterfront Playhouse

Key West may be a small and intimate town within the Florida Keys, but it houses a large and talented community who are very gifted when it comes to the arts and culture of the area. The Key West Island affords locals and tourists alike, the chance to enjoy great artistry at work in the form of professional and sensational productions featuring both local and professional skilled actors.

The Playhouse is a part of the history of Key West, having made the island its permanent home in 1960. It offers productions to suit the tastes of every family member, spanning across various genres.



Being a non-profit theatre as well as the oldest running theatre in Key West, the Waterfront Playhouse stages a wide range of comedies, dramas, concerts, musicals and even world premieres. Seating 150 guests, the Playhouse ensures an entertainment filled and intimate experience for all audience members.



Entertaining audiences for almost 75 years has cemented the theatres place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike. Its pool of talented local actors, designers and directors make for professional productions enjoyed by guests over and over again. 



Internationally acclaimed celebrities having played a part in one or more of the Waterfront’s productions include Charles Busch, Terence McNally and Donna McKechnie to name but a few.  Hit productions have included; Twelve Angry Men, The Full Monty, August: Osage County, Lend Me A Tenor as well as the world wide premier of Carl Hiaasen’s play, Lucky you!



Located a few feet away from Key West’s evening sunset celebration, this historic playhouse is a once in a lifetime experience for all guests to enjoy.

Please note that when there are no shows are in production the playhouse can be rented for meetings, productions, weddings, and more. Venue rental rates can be obtained from the Business Manager.
