Seminole Discovery Days

Join the  Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum for a special Earth Day “Water Warriors” celebration like no othe on April 22nd! Explore how water is life in the Seminole story with environmental activist, artist and videographer Samuel Tommie and with special "family fun" activities throughout the day. Discover the ins & outs of canoes, create water-inspired crafts, and enjoy traditional food sampling along with a classic BBQ!

Activities and refreshments included in Museum admission.

The Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum is owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida and features both temporary and permanent exhibits that highlight different aspects of the Tribe’s history and culture. Nestled in the heart of the Everglades, the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum is home to more than 30,000 unique artifacts selected to celebrate, preserve and interpret the rich history and culture of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. We welcome you to enjoy our engaging indoor exhibits and explore our mile-long boardwalk through a natural cypress dome, leading to a Living Village featuring Seminole artisans. You can also discover Seminole crafts, books and memorabilia at our Museum Store.

Each of their Seminole Discovery Days programs highlights a different aspect of Seminole history and culture in a hands-on way.

Past programs in this series included:

Everglades Exploration--where visitors could discover the plants and animals of Big Cypress and the unique Everglades ecosystems they call home

Archaeology Day—where visitors could “dig in” and get a close-up look at Tribal archaeology by creating pottery, analyzing artifacts, and viewing historic maps

MARCH 25th: Art at Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki—where visitors could create Seminole art-inspired activities.

Their Seminole Discovery Days series is the perfect way to spend a Saturday! Enjoy interactive fun for families, friends, and history and anthropology enthusiasts. All activities are free for members or included in your admission. Be on the lookout for more programs in this series in the Summer and Fall of 2017.
