South Dade Park

Body

South Dade Park in Homestead offers a host of amenities for families looking for a fun day out.  The park is located near US1 and the Coral Castle attraction in Miami Dade county.

The park is open from sunrise to sunset every day and features a playground nicely lined with tall shade trees to help with that Florida sunshine. The playground has a sandy floor and a ton of great equipment for the kids to play on; two swing sets to accommodate all ages, a rope bridge, see-saws shaped like dinosaurs, and monkey bars, just to name a few. Parents can relax and supervise on the plentiful benches that surround the play area.

But for parents there is a lot more to do that just sit around! Outdoor fitness equipment sits right near the playground so you can stay active while your kid plays. Alternately, you can take advantage of the two tennis and one basketball courts, or a walking course that is a quarter of a mile long. Teens, meanwhile will get a kick out of the brand new skateboard park and the field for group sports. If all else fails the rec room is air conditioned and can be hired out for events.

The Helen Sands Pool is open all year around and has a brand new 1424 square foot Family Aquatic Splash Playground (open in summer only) to keep the kids happy while you do laps. Additionally it offers a Learn-to-Swim program for both children and adults, including a Parents and Tots option for those with smaller children.

Among the other programs aimed at kids are summer camps that run over two months each summer, after school supervised activities that encourage a healthy lifestyle by teaching fitness, nutrition, and general wellness plus an appreciation of culture, science, and nature. Older folks can enjoy a program for adults over the age pf 55 aimed at improving physical and mental health.
