Enjoy an educational and exploratory afternoon at the Sawgrass Nature Center & Hospital in Coral Springs every Wednesday at 1 PM. The Nature Explorers program is an adventure in nature with your child, exploring and learning more about our environment and the creatures that inhabit it. Each class has a different theme, featuring story time, nature observation, a live animal visit, and a craft to take home.

Labor Day Picnic at PAMM

PAMM (Perez Art Museum Miami) will open on Monday, September 7, 2015, for a special Labor Day Picnic on the waterfront terrace from 11am – 3pm. Enjoy live music by “Magic City Hippies,” and purchase food and drink specials. Inside the museum, explore new exhibitions.  What a great way to spend the holiday by expanding your creative mind!  Take a break on the terrace in one of those marvelous hanging chairs.

Junior Carnival

Head to Broward County for a tastte of Caribbean flair!  This October 1st, Saturday, there will be a colorful kid-friendly Junior Carnival inLauderhill at Central Broward Regional Park.  Make a day of it by bringing the kids' swimwear for fun at the splash playground located at this park and follow it up with the Carnival activities that start at 1 p.m.  Good food and 10 different live performing bands will highlight the event.  Don't miss the high-energy vivid parade that starts at 2pm.

Parents Night Out

Have an evening to yourselves while the children have some educational fun at the South Florida Science Museum in West Palm Beach. Kids can partake in hands-on science experiments and science related crafts. A planetarium show and pizza will be provided for the evening.  Kids can explore the exhibits and the aquarium areas of the museum.  The event runs for 4 hours which is perfect for a dinner and a movie nearby or just for some hours of peace at home.  Children need to pre-register.

Hurricane Expo

 South Florida residents are invited to participate in a free hurricane and disaster preparedness event to be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at the War Memorial Auditorium, 800 NE 8th Street in Fort Lauderdale.

Hurricane Expo 2015 aims to raise public awareness about the need to be prepared and how to be prepared for hurricanes and other disasters. 

Participants will learn how to track storms, pack a family disaster kit, perform compression only CPR and prepare an emergency plan for their pets.

Strikes for Life Tournament

Gift of Life is a bone marrow foundation that helps save lives by advocating for the donation of life-giving bone marrow.   The Strikes for Life Tournament will be held at Strikes bowling alley in Boca Raton.  Cash prizes, ranging from $60-$1000,  will be awarded to those coming in 1st-5th place!  There will be 3 squads taking place at 10, 12 and 2 during the day.  Registration begins at 9am.  Sign up online for a $60 donation/fee.

Annual Family Fun Day at Pompey Park

Body

14th Annual Family Fun Day at Pompey Park in Delray Beach will happen just in time for the start of school.  Kids can come and get a FREE haircut, free school supplies and more!  Enjoy the Kid Zone and food trucks.  There will be performances by local community groups as well as DJ music throughout the event. Bring your swimsuit and visit the nearby Pompey Pool if things get too hot!

Laser shows are back at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami! On the first Friday of every month, you’re invited to explore the museum after hours and take a seat in the Frost Planetarium for a show that’s quite unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. From Michael Jackson to Pink Floyd, we’re fusing music from some of the greatest artists of our time with mesmerizing laser light visuals, all under the 67-foot dome of the Frost Planetarium—one of the world’s most advanced!

Scientist Sunday

During the first Sunday of every month, join the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science for a special experience. Meet and greet with local scientists who are experts in a variety of fields, including marine biology, climate and weather, software engineering, the brain, primatology, the ocean, and much more. Trained through the Museum’s Science Communication Fellows Program, these scientists developed exciting hands-on activities for visitors to discover what they do and why it is so important.
