Fantastique - Exhibition Opening

The Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts will be open on occasional Saturdays through the new season. Save the date for the first Saturday opening on October 27 when we will be opening our new Fantastique exhibition and enjoying Halloween revels at WMODA. Fantastique celebrates the enchanted world of ceramic art. From myths and monsters to fairies and fables, you will be spellbound by the flights of fancy of European ceramic artists during the last two centuries.

Ardmore Ceramic Art Exhibition

Ardmore is a thriving artist community creating unique ceramics in the Natal Midlands of South Africa. The studio was founded by Fée Halsted in 1985 when she moved to a remote farm and began teaching local people how to model and paint pottery. Originally Fée worked with Bonnie Ntshalintshali, the daughter of the farm’s housekeeper, and they quickly developed a creative synergy. Their collaboration drew national attention when they won the prestigious Standard Bank Young Artist award in 1990.

Venetian Arts Café Society

The Venetian Arts Society’s Diamond Circle and WMODA cordially invite you to CAFÉ SOCIETY hosted at WMODA on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 6-9 pm. Venetian Arts Cafe Society will present Jose Negroni, piano/composer and three-time Grammy nominee and his newest protégé Miss Elli Clarke, vocalist, in the spectacular setting of the Chihuly Gallery at WMODA.

Fantastique Exhibition - The Enchanted World of Ceramic Art

Fantastique celebrates the enchanted world of ceramic art. From myths and monsters to fairies and fables, you will be spellbound by the flights of fancy of European ceramic artists during the last two centuries. Fire-breathing dragons of the Dark Ages do battle with heroic knights or guard the treasures of the Eastern seas. Mermaids and other wonders of the deep beguile mariners while pixies, goblins and other denizens of Fairyland enchant children and adults alike.

Pioneer Family Farmstead Day

Body

The Pioneer Family Farmstead Day will provide visitors an opportunity to experience old time Florida circa late 1800's through the early 1900's. Families can see how the pioneers lived and how technology changed their lives. Catch a ride on Wind Chase Farm's horse drawn wagon, visit the corral to see riding techniques, watch sugar cane from pressing to boiling, visit the garden and animal pens and more.

Artful Learning Childrens Art Class

Body

Children ages 6 to 12 are invited to come have fun with art and science on Saturday afternoons at Manatee Lagoon. Registration for each Artful Learning class will open one week in advance at 3pm – spots fill quickly so we recommend signing up as soon as you can. Manatee Lagoon requires that parents stay on site. Seating, as available, as well as free Wi-Fi. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of class. At 12:50, any open seats will be offered to other guests.

FPL Innovative Cooling Station at the Frost

Visitors are invited to cool off and join the fun at Florida Power & Light Company’s Cooling Station this Sept. 9-10 at the Museum Plaza of the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Downtown Miami’s Museum Park. It’s the perfect location to cool down during some of the city’s hottest events including: Free Second Saturdays at the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), DWNTWN Art Days and the Arsht Center's ArtsLaunch.

Lowe Art After Hours

The first Lowe After Hours of the academic year kicks off on September 7 with a fun Games Night and a chance to visit the Walter Wick exhibition, Games, Gizmos, and Toys in the Attic, after hours. In October, enjoy Pop Art Prints and Michele Oka Doner: Into the Mysterium. Come mix, mingle, learn, and enjoy the galleries and refreshments (curtesy of Bacardi) with friends old and new. $12.50; free for Lowe members. And membership starts at just $40 for students!

Worlds of Wonder

Walter Wick, the children's book artist and author, will have his work on display at the Lowe Art Museum in Miami until Sept. 24, 2017.   “Walter Wick: Games, Gizmos, and Toys in the Attic”  is the first museum retrospective of Walter Wick, the award-winning author and photographic illustrator of Can You See What I See? and co-creator of the famed I Spy book series.
