EcoAction Workdays

Body

Help out your local ecosystem on the second Saturday of the month on an EcoAction Workday at Secret Woods Nature Center, 9 a.m. Volunteers clean up trash, plant native plants, and/or remove non-native invasive plants. Students can earn community service hours for graduation and college scholarships, and others can help improve and preserve the environment. Volunteers should dress appropriately with long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes that can get dirty. Participants should bring gloves, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and drinking water.

Dan Barrow Memorial Bluegrass Jam

Dan Barrow Memorial Bluegrass Jam is the second Sunday of the month at the Fern Forest Nature Center, October-May, 2-4 p.m. There are also special twilight sessions on December 18 and January 22, from 5-7 p.m. This all-ages event is a free unplugged jam session for musicians and listeners interested in bluegrass, folk, and mountain music. Bring an instrument if you like (no amplifiers, please).

International Kinetic Art Exhibit and Symposium

The International Kinetic Art Exhibit and Symposium returns to Boynton Beach February 2-3rd, 2019. This free, one-of-a-kind visual art event includes more than 75 indoor and outdoor kinetic art exhibits, interactive installations, community projects, meet-and-greets with kinetic artists, and a lecture series along the City's Avenue of the Arts (East Ocean Ave from Seacrest Blvd. to Federal Highway).

Flea Market and Bazzar

If you love to shop and appreciate a bargain, come to the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Senior Center Campus in Pembroke Pines for their Flea Market and Bazaar February 4th from 8am-4pm.  Over 100 indoor vendors to browse under 53,000 square feet of air-conditioned comfort, café on premises will be open for breakfast, snacks and lunch. Admission and parking is free for this 2-day event.  Be sure to pick up brochures for Grandma & Grandpa on all of the offerings available at the Senior Center when you go.  

Annual Battle of the Loxahatchee

Come out for a day of military history in Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park​. There will be re-enactors, exhibitors and speakers to give you a glimpse into the battles that occurred in the park in 1838 between the U.S. and the Seminoles. Scheduled weapons demonstrations will occur throughout the day. At 2:00 p.m., the first ever re-enactment of the battle will take place! Bring the family, food trucks will be on site.​

Salute to Spring

Enjoy the beautiful outdoors with free concerts at the city of Greenacres' Salute to Spring at the Greenacres Community Park.  Listen to music, dance and join in on the weekends melodic entertainment at the pavilion. Bring a lawn chair, blanket and friends. Admission is free. Food vendors will be at the park with items available for purchase.

Annual Outdoor Juried Art Festival

The Boca Raton Museum of Art’s annual outdoor juried Art Festival has been named one of the nation’s Top 100. It features 200 of the nation’s best artisans who display and sell high-quality ceramics, wood, fiber, glass, drawing, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, and sculpture. Art Festival proceeds help support the Museum’s educational programs for children and youth. 

Downtown Delray Beach Festival of the Arts

Celebrating its 30th year, this juried art festival of hand-crafted artwork including glass, photography, painting, mixed media, fiber, jewelry and much more.

Deep Blue and You Yoga at the Juno Beach Pier

Deep Blue and You Yoga classes will be held on the beach next to the Juno Beach Pier on January 11 and January 25. Join us at 7:15 AM for a FREE 45-minute, slow-flow yoga class followed by a 15-minute beach cleanup. Please be sure to bring your own mat or towel, water bottle, and any props you need.
