Pérez Art Museum Miami, founded in 1984 as the Center for Fine Arts, was renamed Miami Art Museum in 1996. It has been dedicated to collecting and exhibiting international art of the 20th and 21st centuries. In 2013, the Museum re-opened as the PAMM (Perez Art Museum Miami) in the newly envisioned downtown Miami’s Museum Park. The Coral Gables Museum in Miami-Dade county was opened to the public in 2011 after the management was given permission to occupy the city's historic fire and police station building. ***The Museum reopened on July 5 after a five-week hiatus to re-install galleries and prep for construction. Admission is FREE for all through December 2018! Be sure to visit the reinstalled galleries to view your favorite works in a new context. ***
The first floor houses two large galleries and the Angelique Tea Room, which is used for classes, receptions and other special events. The second floor, which can be accessed by two grand staircases (or an elevator) has three exhibition galleries and the children’s interactive gallery.
Exhibits rotate every three to four months and feature an eclectic mix of local, national and international fine art, crafts and pop culture.
