Is Fright Nights Ok for My Child?
South Florida Finds was invited to a behind-the-scenes tour of the 4 haunted houses for the 2015 Fright Nights at the South Florida Fairgrounds. This spooky experience is recommended for children over the age of 12 years old and for adults. Since all children are different, parents with less squeamish children may be considering it for their under 12 year old child and parents of anxious teens may be wondering if they are "ready" yet.
All About Fall in South Florida
It might not be easy to believe from the weather outside, but the official beginning of Autumn 2015 is already here in South Florida. The biggest annual fall events in South Florida are right around the corner. Just because South Florida is in the tropics and misses autumn colors and apple-picking doesn’t mean that we can't get a taste of fall fun! We do have our own way of celebrating this season. If you are itching to be pickin' there are several U-pick farms that will have veggies and strawberries to choose from...just no apples.
9 South Florida Spots Your Family Must Visit
If thoughts of Florida bring up memories of Disney World and Daytona Beach, you will need to give it another visit. Florida has more to offer than just central Florida attractions. Don't settle for boring holidays with limited excursions.
South Florida Playground Safety
Burns, scrapes, falls, cuts...not an ideal trip to the playground with the family. While accidents happen, there are some areas of the playground that are truly red flag places for parents. Any playground that you visit should be quickly inspected and assessed before allowing your children to play on it. County, city, and state agencies do provide maintenance to parks. Cleaning, repairing, painting and landscaping all fall under their care. Realistically, they cannot be 100% on top of all of their facilities.

Rolling with your Kids South Florida Style: Roller Rinks and Go Kart Action!
Get the kids out of the house and do something different! Parents, we can probably still think back fondly to the good old days of roller rinks or just skating down the sidewalks with our neighborhood buddies. Show the kids you still have some smooth moves by throwing off your flip flops, sliding on some socks, and heading over to some of these neat South Florida roller rinks. Or, if you have children who want control of the wheel, let the kids try go-karts or bumper cars.
Parents Day Out: Culinary Tour of Lake Worth
We dropped the kids off at friends' houses (thank you!) and took a break from the Mom/Dad routine for some "grown folks" time exploring! We joined up with Taste History Culinary Tours for their 3-4 hour long food tour of Lantana/Lake Worth. The air-conditioned mini-bus loads up right in front of the east Macy's entrance at the Boynton Beach Mall.
Top Non-Zoo Animal Encounters of South Florida
For some children, the best way for them to foster a love of wildlife is to expose them in intimate ways to live animals. Children have a natural fascination and are eager learners when it comes to understanding various species. Zoos are a wonderful overview of a variety of animals but sometimes smaller or more indigineous exhibits can really spark their interest.
