Barwick Park

Body

Barwick Park in Delray Beach is a wonderful fixture in the local community.  Every morning you can find people out on the 1-1/4 mile heart trail or under the large pavillion doing an exercise class together.  Located right behind the Fire Department on the corner of Lake Ida Road and Barwick, kids can swing or frolick on the  two playgrounds while occaisionally getting to see the fire trucks at work.  The large open field is frequently used for frisbee, football tossing or in the evening you can catch a pick up soccer game.  This well-utilized and beloved local park also is equipped with picnic tables, water fountains, barbecue grills, restrooms and a large pavilion which can be rented throughout the year. Baby swings are located across the field from the play areas and close to the fire department.  The park is within walking distance of the local school, Banyan Elementary, so after school expect to find lots of school aged kids to play with and the ice cream truck.  Parking is ample however during large gatherings or if there is an event at the local school, it can be challenging.  Parking along Barwick may net you a parking ticket so beware.  This is the perfect park for getting in a good walk or for helping the kids burn off energy.  Playground areas and open field do not have shade.  Parts of the nature trail are shaded and parts are in full sun.
