Connect With Nature

The Nature Conservancy presents Connect With Nature as part of the 2015 Baynanza event. Did you know that nature can help protect coastal Miami from sea-level rise, storms and erosion? Join us for family-friendly day of volunteering, nature hikes, and educational programs that highlight how coastal restoration is helping to make Miami a more resilient urban community.

From mangroves to dunes to coral reefs, Miami has an abundance of natural treasures that play a vital role in protecting our coastal city against erosion, storms and rising seas. Connect With Nature is a free, family-friendly event supporting Miami’s effort to become a more naturally-resilient coastal community.

In honor of Earth Day, volunteers will get their hands dirty and experience first-hand the power of communities working together to restore to coastal habitat in South Florida. Volunteers will remove invasive species, plant mangroves and collect real-time data for scientists. Connect With Nature will also feature kids’ activities by TimberNook, a beach cleanup, educational exhibitors, nature walks, food trucks and more.

Connect With Nature is hosted by The Nature Conservancy, the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science and Historic Virginia Key Beach Park
