Schoolhouse Children's Museum and Learning Center

At the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum in Boynton Beach, children experience South Florida history through two floors of hands-on, interactive exhibits that provide a glimpse of life for early Florida Pioneers. To build, create and, ultimately survive, early Florida settlers had to take advantage of the physical resources around them. Children who visit the Museum encounter child-sized replicas of those resources, which through touch, play and interaction provide them with a historically-based, sensory learning experience. The Museum is housed in the original Boynton School - built in 1913 – and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, children gaze into the eyes of children who attended The Boynton School nearly 100 years ago through large, restored class photos that date back to the 1920s. Children visitors are greeted at the lobby with a short historic tale from Hannibal Dillingham Pierce, an audio-animatronic.

The historical experience is further amplified in the Schoolhouse Lab with a host of free and paid kindergarten readiness classes, a popular ballet class for pre-schoolers, S.T.E.A.M. programs, story time, and arts and crafts.  Programming also includes classes for home school and traditional school groups. They also offer outreach programs that come to your location. Host your child’s birthday party in any theme. This wonderful attraction is best suited for children under 8 and is an excellent way to spend a few air conditioned hours.

This museum is right next to the Kid's Kingdom Playground and across from the City of Boynton Beach Civic Center, library and art center. There is a smaller playground across the street next to the Civic Center that is sometimes used by camps, otherwise it's open to public use.
