Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden

The Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden is located right off the Overseas Highway on Stock Island just east of the main island of Key West.  This wonderful oasis is the only place in the continental United states that never has frost. Enjoy the tropical flora and fauna of which many are endangered or threatened.  The Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden strives to protect this natural environment and educate visitors of the importance of native Floridian species.

Visitors to the Garden will find two of the last fresh water ponds in the Keys as well as amazing tropical plants, flowers, birds and butterflies. The ponds are an important stop on the migratory paths of many a rare and far flown bird.  Grab a Garden Guide and take one of 8 self-guided walks through the different areas of the garden. Or you can even take an audio/text tour of the garden using your smartphone!  Relax at the waterfall wall and gaze upon frolicking turtles in the pool below. See the acre of butterfly habitat that is home to over 20 different species of native butterflies.  See them in their various stages of life: egg, caterpillar, chrysallis and butterfly.  Rest your weary feet while you watch a short film to learn more about this 7 acre designated sanctuary.  The Key West Botanical Garden Society manages the garden and has been it's caretaker since 1988. Free WiFi is on site as well as refreshments for sale and restrooms.
